At a previous workshop hosted by the commissioners of the district, an assignment was given to update our district evaluation to see where the district was at in terms of management, staffing, responses, training and capital facilities. The updated evaluation was recently completed and has been posted in the "File" link (to the left) under the Strategic Plan documents. The executive summary is listed below. Please take a look at the evaluation and contact the fire district if there are questions.
The officers and members of Benton County Fire District Number 4 (BCFD 4) work hard to provide consistently high quality fire and emergency medical response. The system has performed well for over fifty years. Even with such a history of success, the leadership of the fire district recognizes that the region is undergoing widespread change.
Using the evaluation conducted and provided by Emergency Services Consulting inc. (ESCi) in 2005 as the base format, the evaluation was updated based on current information (2005 to 2008) to validate the path and future for the district. The study provides information on the district as it exists today and recommendations for improvements to the existing organization.
Based on the documentation and analysis contained in this report, we summarized the major findings concerning BCFD 4 and the services it provides. None of these findings should be construed as critical of any individual or group; rather from the review of the BCFD 4 baseline evaluation, the district has a number of short, medium, and long-term needs. Recommendations are made throughout the report. Each recommendation is designed to improve the operation and/or service of the fire district. Many recommendations are routine in nature, but over time will have a positive impact on the organization, the delivery of service, and the sustainability of the district’s programs.
