EMS stands for Emergency Medical Service, In 2016, EMS calls accounted for 63.8% of all emergencies and that number is increasing. In fact, we’ve seen a 57% jump in EMS calls since voters approved funding for our first EMS levy in 2010.
Our EMS levy was renewed in 2016 to continue providing Basic Life Support with Firefighter/EMTs and Advanced Life Support with Paramedics, as well as an ambulance transport service. It also pays for us to staff another fire station, which has reduced emergency response times by two minutes on average.
