Benton County Fire District #4 (BCFD4) provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the City of West Richland and surrounding county areas.

We are a combination department with 25 career staff and approximately 25 volunteers, including interns. Our operations currently run out of two stations, with plans to staff a third as personnel become available.

Several of our members also serve on specialized teams such as swift water rescue, technical rescue, and incident management.

Each year, the district responds to more than 2,300 calls, including mutual and automatic aid with neighboring departments. Career and intern staff work a 48/96 shift schedule, while volunteers respond as they are available.

Interns work side-by-side with career staff, gaining valuable experience that strengthens future applications for full-time fire service positions.
